"To Annie Jones wife of John Jones £150 and to Alfred Abbott of Palmerston North the son of my step daughter £150."
Robert was only married once so his step daughter must have been Angelina Death nee Abbott's daughter.
In NZBMD's the only Alfred born to an Abbott with no father's name was born to a Henrietta in 1868. Then found a Henrietta Abbott born in Suffolk in 1847. Found a Henrietta Abbott married an Andrew McDouall in NZ 1876. Andrew and Henrietta died

Alfred Abbott McDowall married Mary Eliza Mexted in 1894.Mary Eliza Mexted was birth was registered in 1868 her parents names are not recorded in BDM historical index.
Alfred Abbott McDowell was buried 12/06/1957 Kelvin Grove Cemetery. His wife Mary Eliza was buried 07/09/1953 in the same plot.
