8th Ave Terrace elevates the Palm Beach dining scene

The Palm Beach foodie scene just went up a level - literally. The southern hub's newest elevated dining space, 8th Ave Terrace, has officially opened its doors. With beach views and the talented creators of Espresso Moto at the helm, this vibrant new eatery and bar is sure to become an alfresco hot spot.

You won't miss the impressive balcony and fancy new signage of the adjoining 1176 8th Avenue Plaza - the bright, white, Hamptons-style venue is well and truly a striking addition to the suburb's beachside skyline. Shimmy up a flight of stairs to the first of two levels that make up 8th Ave Terrace, and you're met with open arms, an open kitchen and one damn-cool brass-topped bar. Yep, just like the venue's older sibling up the road, Espresso Moto, the kitchen and food prep areas are in full view - and the transparency is distinctly appealing. The combination of bright white, greys and brass are met with the contrast of timber wares and roof beams, setting the scene for the terrace level's casual nautical feel. And by casual, we mean you can totally rock up in boardies and thongs to knock back a few fresh oysters and a beer. With a fancy retractable awning installed, you can hang on the terrace in rain, hail or shine.

Chef Glen Burnett has created a head-turning line-up of dishes, so expect fresh, vibrant and moreish notes all rolled into one ever-evolving menu. The 8th Ave Terrace take on fish and chips goes a little something like this - sesame beer-battered Spanish mackerel served with fried kipflers, fresh slaw and house-made tartare sauce. You can keep it light with the Korean tuna tartare with kimchi and crispy wontons, get meaty with a juicy steak and chips or try the slow-rendered whole lamb rack with sweet potato and pancetta mousse, mint and coriander pesto, and red currant jus.  The extensive wine list is just as unique, so whether you're pairing with a crisp white, a hearty red or a craft beer, the knowledgable crew will have you covered. The second level, set to open in the next month, shares the same fare, but in a more formal setting with larger tables, a separate bar and elevated views. Lunch and brunch are on the cards, so keep an ear out.
