	Christchurch Press, Saturday 9th March 1918 CASUALTIES An inquest was held yesterday by Mr H. W. Bishop, District Coroner, touching the death of Hugh D. Stott, a married man, 59 years of age, residing at 173 Rolleston Street, Linwood, whose body was found in the Avon, near the Dallington Bridge, the previous afternoon. Deceased's wife gave evidence to the effect that deceased had not been in good health for some years, and that he had also had some financial worry of late. He had, however, never showed any intention of suicide. He left home about 5 a.m. on Wednesday for a walk, and did not return. A verdict was recorded that deceased was found drowned, and that there was no evidence to show how he got into the water.
