  Notes	Originally he was named James, after his father, but when he was quite young his parents split up and his mother started calling him Hamish, which is Gaelic for James. (She was a very loyal Scot and had a strong Scottish accent all her life.) I have never heard anyone call him James, but the name Hamish was not formalized until much later, well within our memory.
