  Notes	Donald Mckenzie was the third child and eldest son of Isabella and Colin Mckenzie. He worked as a gardener at Keithall, a large estate in Scotland. He married Elsie Morrison on 25th June 1856 when he was 19. Their first child Colin was born in December of 1858.The parents were living at #8 Bank Street, Aberdeen. This address now is a vacant lot used for parking. Two years later in 1860 they emigrated to Australia on the British Trident. A second son Will was born at sea. They spent ten years in New South Wales where several children were born: Caroline, Jessie, Mary Ann, John and Donald. The family lived at Hunter's Hill, Sydney and Wyahralla, inland from Coff's Harbour. Donald's health was failing and this, combined with a desire to reunite with his mother, brothers and sisters prompted a move to New Zealand. In 1871 Donald and Elsie arrived in New Zealand with their four surviving children; Jessie, Donald, Mary and John. The family settled in Weston's Clearing in Dreyerton (Kopuaranga). [1]
