- Betty went to school in Carterton and Greytown, and lived with her grandparents in Masterton while at Wairarapa High School. She was Head Prefect when in the 6th Form. She went to Teachers Training College in Wellington, and taught infants at South Featherston, Carterton and at several Masterton schools.
