Being in theatre for more than 55 years, Staveley is a foundation member of Opera Hawke's Bay and has been on the production team of every opera since.
She was production manager at its very first opera in 1986, La Traviata, and has served as secretary on each production team since. She has worked as a stage director for the Hastings Operatic Society where she is a life member and patron. Her ability saw her fulfil many varied tasks during productions there where she performed as well, and for Theatre Hawke's Bay.
To encourage the next generation of thespians, Staveley, ran The Theatre Craft School of Hastings for eight years teaching general stage craft to the youth of Hawke's Bay. With her experience and contacts she has been able to bring together the talented personnel required back stage to produce operas in Hawke's Bay.
