  	Obituary notice in "Weekly News" November 1873. "Mrs. Archibald Wallace arrived in province along with her husband and a large family of young children 31 1/2 years ago and consequently has witnessed many ups and downs in N.Z. The deceased lady was the mother of Mr. John Wallace of Flatbush and Mr. James Wallace of Papatoetoe and others all of whom are amongst our leading and most energetic settlers. Although it is so long since the family came to N.Z., she is the first of the family that has departed this life. Some children born since the arrival have died, but she, the first of the family who sailed from the shores of Britain in the year 1842, died on Tuesday afternoon at her husbands residence, Papatoetoe at half past 4 o'clock at the age of 69 years.
