Nora Elizabeth (Pat) Wyeth
Nora Elizabeth Wyeth, Pat daughter of Charles Wyeth and Elizabeth Ann
(nee Shirreffs) Wyeth,
was born on 21 September 1893 in Woodlands, Southland, New Zealand, Pat died on
20 December 1982 in Gore,
Southland at age 89, and was buried in Gore. Nora
married Herbert Allan (Bert) Price in 1918 in Edendale, Bert was born in
1886 in Invercargill, Southland the 4th child of Fredercik Augustus Price and
Ellen (nee Norris) Price. Bert died in 1957 in Gore he also is buried in
Gore Cemtery.
Pat and Bert had only one child. David Anthony Price. David was born on 23 May 1932 in
Gore. He married Verna Hoskins on 21 Jun 1955 in Gore. Verna was born on 4 Jul 1935 in Port Chalmers,
Dunedin,Otago, New Zealand.
Pat passed her Civil Service exams in
1908 and was appointed as a Pupil Teacher at Invercagill Park School in July
1909.
Bert's parents had 13 children 6 boys and
7 girls unfortuantely one daughter Beryl died in 1901 aged 1 month.
The Price family was a well-known and respected Invercargill family.
Bert was Manager of Wright
Stephenson’s in Edendale and a Director of the company.
Directors meetings were held in Christchurch and Uncle Bert came to
Christchurch frequently. Pat's
niece Nora, eldest daughter of Amy, well remembers Bert's visits to Christchurch
when he took Amy and her daughters Nora and Lucy to dinner at Warners or the
United Services Hotels. Pat and
Bert lived all of their married lives in Southland firstly in Edendale and later
in Gore.
Bert died in 1957.
Pat continued to live in the family home in Gore for many years a
favourite holiday venue for many of her nieces and nephews.
