An incredible man. I worked with Hamish at both Wellington & Battle Hill's last 3 Equestrian Events. He recently upgraded to become an Eventing Technical Delegate, safety being paramount. At the recent Battle Hill Event he talked about what he hoped to achieve in NZ Pony Club as a new committee member. His dream was to one day become an ESNZ International TD & officiate at an Overseas Event. I have no doubt he would have achieved this. Hamish will be a huge loss to our Equestrian sport. As a real gentleman to work with, I will sorely miss him. John Brown, Technical Committee |

Linda, Ana, Matt, Trudy and Graham. It is with such sadness that I visit this page to leave a tribute for Hamish. What do you write about this man. A gentleman who gave his time to his sports and passions so freely. A family man who supported His children in all their endeavours. A quiet manner but wicked sense of humour he will be sadly missed for many years to come. Di and Hugh |

Linda, Ana, Matt, Trudy and Graham and families. We are so sorry to hear of the tragic news of Hamish. He was such a friendly happy guy who I used to catch up with regularly at St Matt's. We had many a laugh together. Having known him since he was a school boy and seeing him grow into the well respected person he is, makes it a real pleasure to have known him. Our thoughts are with you all. Wendy & Doug Davidson. |

Hamish was such a supportive father and a great farmer, I have know him for 25 years through hockey and farming. Hamish never had a nasty word to say about anyone and was always more than willing to help out. Hamish always had a big smile and a wave when ever I saw him and I will miss seeing him around and about in Carterton.
I wish there was more that I could have done on Tuesday for you Hamish.
RIP Hamish

I am so sorry to hear of Hamish's death and what a tragic loss to you the family, and the community at large of such a wonderful man . We have such fond memories of Hadlow School hockey and camps ,with Hamish managing the hockey team and always being there to support Ana and Matt. Always kind but also firm ,the hockey kids learnt a lot and had a lot of respect for Hamish. You only have to see how many of his hockey team ended up in the first 11 in our two high schools and the capital teams to see his coaching legacy . There are no words that make it any better ,the only comfort is in knowing he was a good man who was universally liked and respected ,who contributed a lot and was appreciated by many . Our hearts are heavy for you .

I didn't realise I knew Hamish, and I don't, but I certainly recognise the man at hockey that was always chatty and smiley and involved... and judging by the other comments he was the same with the horsey world. Feeling very sad for the people who have been left behind. My condolences to Hamish's family :-( |

Still can't believe the terrible news. Hamish was an amazing stalwart of eventing and pony club in the Wairarapa, incredibly generous with his time, energy and resources, and we will all be the poorer for his passing. He was a true gentle-man in every sense. Our heartfelt condolences to all the family, especially Linda, Ana and Matt. |

Words can not express our thoughts. Hamish was always there. We never heard him (or you his family) complain. Just got on with things making it look so easy. His loss will be greatly felt by us horsey people. I know as a family we are struggling to process this news so can't even work out how as a family you are getting on. Take care, and if you need anything, please don't hesitate to let us know - we would be happy to be able to give back some of what Hamish has given to us....
