'Expresso Moto' articles from 'The Weekend Edition'

The coast's first motorbike cafe Espresso Moto opens in Palm Beach

Newly opened Espresso Moto on the Gold Coast Highway in Palm Beach is a tribute to great coffee and cafe racer motorbikes. Take a load off and watch the masters at work restoring and rebuilding classic bikes.
Part cafe part workshop, Espresso Moto is dishing up a tasty assortment of honest farmhouse-style food that is loaded with flavour not fads. The carefully crafted menu offers lighter options as well as more hearty delights such as the ground lamb sandwich that is smothered with red wine and rosemary onion jam, gruyere cheese and aioli.
A gigantic glass window at the far end bestows a preview into the workshop where come January, a mechanic will be toiling away restoring and servicing classic motorbikes. But for now, a partially restored Honda CB250 graces the workbench as a kind of progressive art installation that pays homage to the humble cafe racer, a bike built for speed and handling rather than comfort.
The unusual idea came about as owners Jordan and Shannon along with their partners Nikki and Krista (aka Bubbles) tinkered away restoring an old bike. They joked about opening a place where you could enjoy great food, coffee and work on motorbikes. Jump forward a few short months and the Gold Coast's first motorbike cafe is now a reality.
Espresso Moto serves Allpress Espresso's Supremo blend, which for the serious coffee aficionados, offers a deep earthy coffee flavour with a light sweetness.
