27 Sep 1839: Deed for purchase of Lands around wellington signed on board the Cuba in Wellington Harbour.
23 Dec 1839: Ship ‘Cuba’ makes first landfall at Kaipara arriving outside Port Nicholson on the 3rd of January 1840 and entering the Harbour on the 4th, coming ashore at Petone, then known as Britannia. Surveyor Captain Mein Smith on board (Robert Wyeth a chain man for the survey on board.)
